Student Life:
Spiritual growth is developed through religious education programs and a school environment characterized by signs, symbols, manners and customs of faith. Students celebrate by daily prayer, instruction, school liturgies, paraliturgical services, observance of holy days of obligation and other devotions. The sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation are prepared for and received at appropriate grade levels.

Activities:
St. Rose Grammar School offers many activities that give students and opportunity to nurture their religious, intellectual, personal, and physical development. These activities and programs encourage students to share their gifts and talents and to contribute to their community and parish.
Believing that faith impels us to serve others, students at St. Rose are provided with opportunities to increase their awareness of the less fortunate. Students participate in the following outreach programs to help those who are in need: mission collections, Project Hope, clothing and food drives, Service Club, nursing home visitations and other service projects.
Students experience the meaning of a faith community through their interactions with each other. The following activities, events and clubs give students opportunities to develop social relations, to gain respect for each other and to develop responsibilities for their actions. Back to the Top
Student Dress Code:
St. Rose Grammar school requires uniforms to be worn by boys and girls. The uniform is to be purchased through a designated uniform company, Flynn & O'Hara. You can purchase uniforms online or over the phone or at one of their store locations.
The PTA also hosts a uniform exchange service where families can purchase clean, previously worn uniforms that are in good condition at a substantial savings.
The girls’ uniform for grades kindergarten through five consists of a jumper, school blouse and sweater. Uniforms for the girls in grades six through eight consist of a kilt, school blouse and sweater. Walking shorts and a knit short sleeved shirt are optional for the fall and spring.
The boys’ uniform for grades kindergarten through eight consists of corduroy pants, oxford shirt, school sweater and tie. Twill trousers, shorts and a short sleeved shirt are optional for the fall and spring.
Appropriate shoes are required. On the day the students have physical education they wear a required gym uniform. Dress regulations dictate the students must have appropriate hairstyles and no faddish jewelry.

Homework:
Written and study assignments are an integral part of the child’s total education success. The assignments are designed to reinforce the lessons taught in the classroom. The amount received is relative to the student’s individual grade level. Homework policy is established and presented by each teacher at the beginning of the year. Back to the Top

Health Services:
A nurse is present during school hours. Her services include administering medicine, caring for children who become ill, as well as attending to all state mandates regarding health regulations. The school health office is staffed daily by a nurse who is responsible for vision, hearing, dental and blood pressure screenings yearly. Scoliosis screening is done on all students from ten years of age as required by state law. A school doctor provides physical exams in August for all students participating in sports. A physical exam is required for students entering kindergarten, third, and sixth grade.
Transportation:
Busing :
Approximately sixty-six percent of the student population is transported to St. Rose by bus. Bus service is provided through the public school district in which the student lives. Bus application forms are available at St. Rose for the districts supplying the transportation. Please direct all questions regarding bus schedules and bus stops to the Board of Education in your public school district. Not all public school districts provide bus transportation.

Seventeen percent of the student population walks to school on sidewalks. Crossing guards and police supervision are present in the school vicinity.
Parent Sponsored Transportation :
Some area towns do not provide buses; therefore sixteen percent of the student population from area towns are transported to St. Rose by car.
